Who are you? Rush like phantom!

Can you see of mine wavy form?

Nymph, Delilah may hover anon,

Mind’s eye sees rowan of canon!

Can anyone feel the fallen’s tune?

Time drives away forlorn tribune,

A nonce is a twinkling be past sure

Puritan in an evil hour rare be impure.

Nothing in the universe stays present

Disappears soon, scenery recent,

Like the cinema screen flashes while

To make eyes at the scene found exile.

Lovesick Cophetua, mighty Caesar

Time grasped including Alexander,

Can exist, anyone, time-unlimited?

Such power outright God omitted.

Guided each by the Super Creator

No escape facing the Resurrector,

Ultimate revert to Him without fail;

Has viaticum in the perilous sea, to sail? 20

কে তুমি বল, দ্রুত ছুটে চল অপচ্ছায়া সম?

দেখিতে কি পাও ওহে, তরঙ্গায়িত রূপ মম?

বনপরী, ডিলাইলাবৎ কুমারীর প্রেমী বিচরা

মনশ্চক্ষুতে ভাসে গিরিসঙ্কট গোলাপে ভরা।

বুঝিতে কি পারে কেউ পতিত প্রাণের সুর?

কালচক্রে রোম-শাসক গেছে হারিয়ে বহুদূর

চোখের পলকেই বর্তমান, হয়ে যায় অতীত

ন্যায়পরায়ণ নীতিহারা সে কুক্ষণে কদাচিৎ।

কোন কিছুই জগত মাঝে থাকে না বর্তমান

হালের দৃশ্যাবলী শীঘ্র হয়ে পড়ে অদৃশ্যমান,

চলচ্চিত্র সম উঠে তা ভেসে ক্ষণিক লাগিয়া

চোখ ফিরে তাকালে যায় নির্বাসনে চলিয়া।

প্রেমকাতর রাজা কপেচুয়া, শক্তিমান সিজার

কালের গ্রাসে হয়েছে লীন সহ আলেকজান্ডার,

অনাদি কাল ধরে পারে কেউ রইতে হেথায়?

রহিত করেছে তা বিধি পূরা আপন মহিমায়।

অসীম ক্ষমতাবানের চালনাতে চলে প্রত্যেকে

নাই পালাবার পথ পুনরুজ্জীবিতকারীর থেকে,

ফিরতে হবে শেষে তাঁরই সুমুখে নাহি ব্যত্যয়

আছে কি পারের কড়ি বিপৎসংকুল সে যাত্রায়? ২০
